Governor Matt Blunt has named Parkville resident Pete Lobdell to serve as state supervisor for Alcohol and Tobacco Control under Mark James, Director of Public Safety. Lobdell is a former agent for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). He received a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Indiana University and began his career in 1976 with the ATF. In August 2004, he retired as a supervisory special agent of an enforcement group for the Kansas City Division. Lobdell served as a certified fire investigator for the ATF and helped investigate the November 29, 1988, fire in Marlborough that killed six Kansas City firefighters. A member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, Lodbell is also the Grand Knight for the local Knights of Columbus, Council #7199. "Pete Lobdell has a keen understanding of the delicate balance a dual mission law enforcement and regulatory agency must maintain," Blunt said in a statement. "his nearly three decades of enforcing federal alcohol, tobacco, firearms and explosives laws will serve the State of Missouri well."
